Iain Wood
Screenwriter & Author - Waterloo Military History Specialist.
I am the author of the 2024 historical work ‘A Sunday Morning at Hougoumont,’ now faithfully adapted into a character-driven , 6-episode documentary-drama. Having lived near Waterloo for 50 years and served 10 years with the elite ‘Light Company’ of the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards, (the same unit that defended Hougoumont in 1815) I bring a unique, firsthand military perspective to this narrative.

A Literary Agent’s comment: Wade & Co Literary Agency - About
“A powerful and deeply emotional story. Unearthing an untold historical episode like this has immense potential for drama, intrigue, and social commentary. Your focus on the miscarriage of justice, creates a compelling and layered narrative…, well done you.”
A Los Angeles Producer’s comment: https://www.imdb.com/fr/name/nm6415927/?ref_=sr_i_2
“I had the chance to read your script, A SUNDAY MORNING AT HOUGOUMONT, and I wanted to reach out to say how impressed I was. Your voice is clear on both scripts, your characters compelling, and the story felt both grounded and original. It’s rare to find something that hits emotional depth and narrative momentum with such confidence, and I believe this project has real potential to connect with audiences.”
BBC quote: “My ten years of military service, provides me with the expertise for the scenario. This firsthand insight into a soldier's mindset, enables me to grasp the injustice at the core of this fascinating story.”
This is not ‘just another historical drama.’ It’s a vivid, character-driven tale of a Company’s heroism, human struggle, and triumph against impossible odds. Drawing from meticulous research and my own military service, this story explores the camaraderie, sacrifice, and resilience of the men of 1815, while grasping the injustice at the core of this fascinating moment in history.
This screenplay has the potential to captivate audiences worldwide, bringing history to life in a way that is both emotionally resonant and visually breathtaking.
